Designing Music CDs

Designing the artwork for music CD's is a wonderful challenge. Like designing the materials for events, it consists of many pieces that need to fit together to make a whole. These pieces include a cover and/or booklet, the CD insert, the back cover of the CD case, and of course the design on the circular CD itself.

My process again starts with the artist and a brainstorming session about the music and the feeling they are trying to convey through the work. From there we come up with basic ideas, color schemes, and an over all theme, or look, for the final product.

Included in this portfolio is a CD created for Allyssa Jones, a jazz singer from Chicago, and two CD's by Greasyfur MD, my own musical production. More music CD designs can be seen here

"Bill, thank you for designing my CD cover- and for thinking out of the box! Your technical advice really brought the pieces to a whole new level. It is always wonderful to work with someone so professional and inuitive."
